This is a great Country and life is full of opportunity if you are willing to work for it. "All of a sudden I realized that the noise was from our smoke detectors and smoke is rising from behind our house. Something was very wrong. Running up to the front door, my heart is pounding. I opened the front door and it felt like eternity stopped. Everything in my house was engulfed in black. There was not one speck of light in the whole house. Total blackness!!! It was thick and threatening. Many things went through my mind: Was this real? Could I run through the house to save my birds? I couldnt see a thing! The smell of smoke was overpowering. It was pitch black. I desperately searched for an answer. There was none. What is happening? I need to get my birds; they are in the back of the house. What can I do?" From "Born Of Fire" Although, very sadly, we lost our cat Dazi and our Birds to the fire. Our Grandson Cyrus and I were spared. We were enjoying our life before the fire. Drawing and Painting has been a constant in my life but after the fire much changed. Although it was difficult on many levels in an unexpected way I enjoyed the process dealing with the challenges of getting a life back. I could not see myself doing anything less than putting my all into reclaiming a life. I never dreamed of writing a book, I always thought that I could design a house but then building it, that was awesome. Keeping a balance wasnt easy. We found ourselves more open to new experiences. The memories, at times, are painful but I find solace in creating.
